KMKM advance, Mlandege exit in CAF competitions

It was a weekend of mixed fortunes for the two teams from Zanzibar KMKM SC and Mlandege FC in the 2025/2026 CAF competitions.
While KMKM SC advanced to the next stage of the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup, Mlandege FC exited the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League at the first preliminary round.
After losing the first leg 2-0 to Ethiopia Insuranec FC in Addis Ababa, Mlandege FC defeated the Ethiopia Premier League side 3-2, but exited on a 4-3 goal aggregate.
In the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup KMKM SC showed their true colours in the two matches played against Djibouti’s AS Port at the New Amaan Stadium.
KMKM SC ensured they picked identical 2-1 wins in each of the legs to qualify on a 4-2 goal aggregate.
The PBZ Zanzibar Premier side now joins other teams in the CECAFA Zone in the second preliminary round like; Dekedaha FC (Somalia), Nairobi United FC (Kenya), Azam FC, Singida Black Stars FC (Tanzania), and Burundi’s Flambeau du Centre FC.
