Azam FC wins, Mlandege exit NMB Mapinduzi Cup

Mlandege FC have suffered a 2-0 defeat to Azam FC to exit the on-going NMB Mapinduzi Cup 2026.

It was Mlandege FC’s third defeat in Group A of the annual tournament.

Zidane Ally Sereri gave Azam FC the lead early in the 7th minutes, and Hamid Mao made it 2-0 later in the second half at the New Amaan Stadium on Friday.

The win sent Azam FC to second place behind Singida Black Stars FC who also have 4 points, but with a better goal difference.

Uganda Revenue Authority FC (URA FC) who kick started their campaign with a 1-0 win against Mlandege FC are yet to face Singida Black Stars and Azam FC.

Action continues on Saturday with two matches on card. Singida Black Stars FC will face URA FC, while Simba SC start their Group B campaign against Muembe Makumbi FC.

The tournament sponsored by NMB Bank was created to commemorate Zanzibar’s Revolution day which is marked annually.
