Tanzania Premier League side, Young Africans SC are the winners of the Muungano Cup (Union Cup) 2025.

Forward Max Nzengeli netted the lone goal to give Young Africans SC a 1-0 win against Zanzibar Premier League side JKU SC in a final played at the Gombani Stadium in Pemba on May 1st.

The tournament organized by the government of Zanzibar in conjunction with the Zanzibar Football Federation (ZFF) attracted eight teams.

To reach the final Young Africans SC defeated Zimamoto SC 3-1 in penalty shoot-outs after the match had ended 1-1, while JKU SC saw-off Azam FC 2-1.

The tournament kick started with the quarter final stage with JKU SC ejecting Singida BS 6-5 in penalties after a 2-2 draw, while Zimamoto SC stopped Coastal Union SC 1-0. Azam FC also picked a 1-0 win against KMKM SC, while Young Africans SC defeated KVZ FC 2-0.    

Hussein Ahmada Vual, the general secretary of the Zanzibar Football Federation (ZFF) said that the tournament had been very successful. “We hope to keep working hard to make the tournament better,” added Vual.
