Young Africans SC win NMB Mapinduzi Cup 2026

Young Africans Sports Club are the winners of the NMB Mapinduzi Cup 2026.
The Tanzania Premier League reigning champions edged Azam FC 5-4 in penalty shoot-outs after the final match played at the Gombani Stadium in Pemba on January 13th had ended goalless.
Young Africans SC dominated the match which was also graced by the President of Zanzibar, Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi.
Azam FC goalkeeper Aishi Manula put up a good man of the match performance blocking several raids at goal and also stopped a late penalty by midfielder Pacome Zouzoua.
Azam FC were also reduced to 10 men later in the match when Cheickna Diakité received a second booking in the 73rd minute.
During penalty shoot-outs Young Africans converted through Emmanuel Mwanengo, Prince Dube, Pacome, Mudathir Yahya Abbas and Bakari Mwamnyeto.
The five time Mapinduzi Cup winners Azam FC converted through Omary Said, Twalibu Nuru, Sadio Kanoute and Peter Kamanya, while while Landry Zouzou’s had his penalty saved by goalkeeper Aboutwalib Mshery.
Yanga’s composure from the spot sealed a hard-fought victory and crowned them champions on a historic night at Gombani Stadium.
NMB Bank were the sponsors of the the tournament which attracted 10 teams including guest side Uganda Revenue Authority FC.
