Tanzanian giants Young Africans SC kick started their Muungano Cup defence with a 4-0 win against Mwembe Makumbi City FC in a match played on Tuesday.

Prince Dube gave Young Africans SC the lead after 17 minutes at the New Amaan Complex. Ugandan International Allan Okello set-up Dube who made no mistake getting the ball in the next.

The Zanzibar Premier League side tried to fight back, but failed to find space to score against the defending champions.

Frank Asinki and Ibrahim Shekhan added two more goals as Young Africans took a 3-0 goal lead at the interval.

After recess Dube netted his second goal of the day after 57 minutes. The win sends Young Africans to the semi-final stage.

Action continues on Wednesday with Zanzibar Premier League side KVZ FC take on Azam FC at the New Azam Complex.

The tournament which will brings together teams from Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar is played to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Union.
