Senegal, Sudan coaches praise Zanzibar as good CHAN hosts

The national teams of Senegal and Sudan have praised Zanzibar for being such good hosts during the TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship 2024.
Zanzibar hosted Group D that had Senegal, Sudan, Nigeria and Congo Brazzaville during the tournament co-hosted by Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya August 2-30th.
Morocco went on to defeat surprise package Madagascar in the final 3-2, while Senegal edged Sudan 4-2 on penalties to clinch third place.
But from the reactions of the major teams that played in Zanzibar, Senegal and Sudan have praised the level of organization, the facilities and the love of the population.
Souleymane Diallo, the Senegal coach was all praise for Zanzibar which he called a beautiful place with nice people. “The facilities in Zanzibar were really nice, the food good and the people with a lot of hospitability,” said Diallo.
He made it clear that he will be ready to visit Zanzibar again with any team or even himself just for holiday. “I really liked that place and I will certainly go back,” added Diallo.
The Sudan coach Kwesi Appiah was equally a happy made about what he saw and experienced in Zanzibar.
“It was not by mistake that we came out top in Group D. but the environment in Zanzibar also contributed to how we performed. The facilities were very nice, the pitch and training pitches were all excellent, the hotels and food were also great, and the people very friendly,” added Appiah.
Zanzibar has previously also hosted the CAF African Schools Football Championship in 2024, and the 2024/25 TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup final between Tanzania’s Simba SC and Morocco’s RS Berkane, all held at the Amaan Stadium.
