Poor start for JKU Princess in CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers

Zanzibar champions JKU Princess made a losing start in the on-going CAF Women’s Champions League CECAFA qualifiers in Nairobi, Kenya.
JKU Princess suffered a 5-0 defeat to Tanzania’s JKT Queens in a Group C match played at the Ulinzi Complex on Friday.
Jamila Rajab netted a hat-trick, while Winfrida Gerald and Asha Mlangwa netted the goals for the Tanzanian Women champions.
Windrida Charles Mathias and Mary Arone Siyame had some shots at goal for JKU Princess, but failed to find the target.
The head coach of JKU Princess Michael Herman Mfaume said that although they made a poor start in the tournament, they will work hard ahead of their next group match against Yei Joint Stars from South Sudan.
“We are happy to be playing in this competition because it helps to develop our players because they are facing teams from different countries,” added Mfaume.
In the other matches that have so far been played Rwanda’s Rayon Sports WFC shocked defending champions Commercial Bank of Ethiopia 2-1, while Kenya Police Bullets FC stopped Kampala Queens FC (Uganda) 1-0.
The winner of the competition will represent the CECAFA Zone at the CAF Women’s Champions League to take place later this year.
