Determined Zanzibar Heroes settle for draw against Nigeria

The Zanzibar Heroes showed how solid a team they are holding Nigeria’s CHAN team to a 0-0 draw in an international friendly match played at the Mau Tse Tung Stadium on Monday.

It was not just a mere friendly match for the home side as fans attended in big numbers to cheer their mighty Heroes.

Nigeria dominated mots of the play, but the Heroes’ defending line led by skipper Abdalla Kheir Salum and Salum Khamis Salum stood firm.

Zanzibar’s coach Ali Suleiman Haji Mtuli thanked his players for putting up a good show against Nigeria.

Eric Chelle, Nigeria’s coach said that he was happy that his team had a chance to play a competitive match against Zanzibar.

The Nigerian team which is preparing ahead of the forth coming TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024 which will play another match against Zanzibar on Thursday at the same Stadium.

The CHAN tournament to be co-hosted by Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania will take place from August 2-30th, 2025. Group D to be based in Zanzibar will have Nigeria, Congo Brazzaville, Sudan and defending champions Senegal.
