Mapinduzi Cup 2025 kicks off in Gombani
The Mapinduzi Cup 2025 kicks of on Friday night at the Gombani Stadium.
Organised by the government of Zanzibar together with the Zanzibar Football Federation (ZFF) the 2025 Mapinduzi Cup has attracted four national teams.
To kick start Mapinduzi Cup 2025 will be the Zanzibar Heroes facing Kilimanjaro Stars in the opening match on Friday night.
Action will return on Saturday when Burkina Faso face Kenya’s Harambee Stars at the same Gombani Stadium.
Action to the organisers all the four teams will play three matches each with the final match between Kenya and Zanzibar Heroes taking place on January 10th, 2025.
The Mapinduzi Cup is also played to celebrate the anniversary of the revolution of Zanzibar.
The Tanzania, Kenya and Burkina Faso teams are are using the Mapinduzi Cup to prepare ahead of the TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024. The tournament that strictly meant for players featuring in their different domestic Leagues will take place February 1-28th in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
