The Council of East and Central African Football Associations (CECAFA) has asked the member Associations to pay up the agreed US$20,000 ahead of the season opener U-23 Challenge Cup.

Ahead of the General Assembly of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) general Assembly in Rabat, Morocco in March, CECAFA members agreed that each member Associations pays US$20,000 to help the hosts Ethiopia organize the regional tournament.

The CECAFA U-23 Senior Challenge Cup will take place July 3-18^th in the town of Bahir Dar, Ethiopia.

Auka Gacheo, the CECAFA Executive Director on Monday asked member Associations to pay up quickly because the money will help organize a successful competition. “Only Burundi, Eritrea, Uganda and Ethiopia have paid-up. Other members should also pay,” added Auka.

Although the Zanzibar Football Federation (ZFF) is yet to clear the US$20,000, the body made it clear they will send a team for the competition.
