Zanzibar Heroes coach praises team after defeat to Uganda in U-17 tourney

The head coach of the Zanzibar Heroes, Abdulmutik Haji Ali has praised the team despite losing 3-0 to Uganda in the on-going CECAFA U-17 Women’s Championship.

After losing 1-0 to South Sudan in their opening Group B match, the Zanzibar Heroes suffered a 3-0 loss to Uganda in a match played on Tuesday at the KMC Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

Coach Abdulmutik Haji Ali made it clear that his team played well against an experienced team like Uganda. “We are in a learning process and playing in some of these tournaments give our players chance to get better,” added the coach.

The coach praised his players for putting up a good performance and defending well. “Uganda is among the best teams in the Zone and playing against them is good for us because we are getting the exposure playing at top levels,” added the coach.

After losing the second match, the Zanzibar Heroes who will face Djibouti in their last Group B match on Friday have no hopes of making it to the semi-final stage.

Uganda and South Sudan from Group B have already advanced to the knock out stage, while Tanzania and Kenya have also qualified from Group A.
