KVZ FC in narrow 1-0 defeat away to Al Swehly in CAF Champions League
KVZ FC has suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat away to Al Swehly in the first leg preliminary round of the 2026/2027 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League.
The PBZ Premier League reigning champions kept the home side in control for the entire 45 minutes on Friday night at the Misurata Stadium in Libya.
After recess, a a costly blunder by the KVZ FC goalkeeper gave Abdullah Al Orfey opportunity to finish and make it 1-0.
The KVZ FC side tried to fight back to score some goals, but failed to penetrate the defending line of the home side.
KVZ Fc will now return to the drawing board to prepare for the return leg slated for September 12th at the New Amaan Stadium.
In-case KVZ FC eject the Libyan team over two legs, they will face the winner between Gaborone United (Botswana) and Tanzania’s Young Africans SC in the second preliminary round.
