KVZ FC edge KMKM in penalty shoot-outs to win Community Shield

KVZ FC are the winners of the 2026/2027 Zanzibar Community Shield.
The PBZ Premier League reigning champions KVZ FC fought from goals down to draw 2-2 with KMKM SC, and eventually win 8-7 in penalty shoot-outs at the Mau Stadium.
Jasper Babalika gave KMKM SC a 1-0 half time lead. After recess KMKM took charge of the match leading 2-1 after Mateo Antony scored and Mudrick Gonda pulled one back for KVZ FC.
Akram Muhina leveled matters to make it 2-2 and take the game to penalty shoot-outs. KVZ FC no mistake from the spot to start the new season with a trophy in the cabinet.
The final was also a good warm-up fo the two teams as they prepare for matches in the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League and the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup.
KVZ FC will face Swehly SC (Egypt) in the first preliminary round of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League, while KMKM SC take on Al Ahly Tripoli (Libya) in the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup first preliminary round.
