CECAFA Kagame Cup gave us best training – KVZ Coach

The head coach of KVZ FC has said playing at the CECAFA Kagame Cup 2026 has given them the best platform for training at top level.
KVZ FC, the Zanzibar Premier League reigning champions exited the regional tournament at the group stage after losing all three matches to Rayon Sport FC, Al Hilal SC and to Tusker FC on Saturday.
But the head coach Hababuu Ali Omar has made it clear that is was not just about walking into the pitch and work hard to win, but the training and match fitness gained has helped them a lot.
“We are going to represent Zanzibar in the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League and playing in the Kagame Cup has helped us a lot get the top class exposure,” explained the coach.
Ali Omar said that playing the three matches in the Kagame Cup had given the technical bench opportunity to try out several aspects. “We have be able to try out all the departments and we now know where we need to put in more effort,” added the KVZ FC coach.
KVZ FC lost their opening match 2-0 to Rwanda’s Rayon Sport FC, before falling 4-0 to Al Hilal SC (Sudan), and completing the group with a 2-0 defeat to Kenya’s Tusker FC on Saturday.
