Mafunzo SC’s opponents for CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers unveiled
Zanzibar Women’s League champions Mafunzo Women SC’s opponents for the CAF Women’s Champions League CECAFA qualifiers have been unveiled.
During the official draw conducted by the Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) on Thursday at the Amahoro Stadium Press conference Hall, Mafunzo Women SC was placed in Group A together with Rayon Sport WFC, Yei Joint Star FC (South Sudan), and Eritrea’s Denden FC.
The Zonal qualifiers which will attract 10 teams will take place August 21-31st in Kigali, Rwanda.
Mafunzo Women SC will be making their first appearance in the competition together with Djibouti’s FC Ujeco.
The top two teams from Group A, together with the best runner-up from any of the three groups will qualify for the semi-final stage. The winner Group B will face the runner-up Group A, while the winner Group A battles best second placed team at the semi-finals.
The champion will represent the CECAFA Zone at the CAF Women’s Champions League 2026.
Group A: Rayon Sport WFC, Yei Joint Star FC, Mafunzo SC, Denden FC
Group B: CBE FC, Kawempe Muslim Ladies, FC Ujeco
Group C: Simba Queens, Kenya Police Bullets FC, Top Girls Academy FC
