ZFF’s President Jabir Suleiman, Hussein Ahmada attend CECAFA Elective Assembly in Djibouti

Two officials from the Zanzibar Football Federation (ZFF) attended the CECAFA Elective General Assembly held in Djibouti on February 7th, 2026.

Jabir Suleiman Mahmoud, the ZFF President and the General Secretary Hussein Ahmada Vual witnessed a new Executive being voted in.

Eritrea’s Paulos Weldehaimanot Andemariam was voted un-opposed to lead CECAFA for the next four years. He was un-opposed after Alexandre Muyenge (Burundi) and Moses Hassim Magogo (Uganda) withdrew from the race.

The CECAFA Elective General Assembly attended by all 11 Member Associations took place at the Djibouti Palace Kempinski. It was graced by FIFA, CAF and other stakeholders.

President of the Somali Football Federation (SFF), Ali Abdi Mohamed is the new Vice President, while Francis Amin Michael and Shema Ngoga Fabrice, Presidents of the South Sudan Football Federation (SSFF) and Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) respectively.

“We are not happy because this time we were not allowed to vote and yet we are CECAFA members,” said the ZFF President after the Assembly.

CAF’s 5th Vice President Fezal Ismael Sidat who represented the President Dr. Patrice Motsepe congratulated the new leadership of CECAFA and asked them to continue working hard to develop Football further.
