Tanzania will be one of the teams that will play in the knock out stage of 16 at the on-going TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025.

Faisal Salum who scored the important goal that earned Taifa Stars a 1-1 draw against Tunisia, and a slot to finish among the best four third placed teams says he is happy to have played a pivotal role to get to the next stage.

“I am very happy that I scored that important goal and that results together with the 1-1 draw against Uganda have now earned us a chance to play in the knock out stage for the first time in the history of Tanzania,” says Salum.

Tanzania and Sudan are the other two teams from the Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) that have qualified for the knock of stage at the AFCON 2025. Uganda who finished bottom of Group C failed to make it to the next stage.

Taifa Stars will face hosts Morocco in the knock out stage on January 4th at the Prince Moulay Abdellah, Rabat, while Sudan take on Senegal a day earlier at the Tangier Stadium.
