Azam FC ready to ride on Zanzibar support against Wydad AC

Tanzania Premier League side Azam FC are prepared to ride on the support of fans from Zanzibar when they host Wydad AC on Friday at the New Amaan Stadium.
The two teams will clash in the second Group B match of the 2025/2026 TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup.
Azam FC lost their opening match 2-0 away to DR Congo’s Maniema Union last weekend in Kinshasa.
Florent Ibenge, the Azam FC head coach said on Thursday that they have prepared well and hope that the hope support in Zanzibar will motivate his team to work hard and get maximum points.
“After losing the first match, we know that we need to work hard and get a good result against Wydad,” said Ibenge.
Feisal Salum, born in Zanzibar will be one of the Azam FC star players to watch against the Moroccan side Wydad AC.
After recording a 3-0 win against Nairobi United FC, Wydad AC leads Group B, while Maniema Union are second and Azam FC third.
On Sunday Singida Black Stars FC will also host South Africa’s Stellenbosch in a Group C match at the New Amaan Stadium.
