Zanzibar for CECAFA U-17 Women’s Championship 2026

The Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) has included Zanzibar in the CECAFA U-17 Women’s Championship 2026.
“Although Zanzibar had been drawn, after consultations it was decided Zanzibar are placed in Group B to make four teams and we are happy to have them,” says the CECAFA Manager of Competitions, Yusuf Mossi.
The competition which will attract eight teams will take place June 13-23rd in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Zanzibar have been placed in Group B alongside Uganda, South Sudan and Djibouti.
Zanzibar will play their opening match against South Sudan on June 14th at the Azam Complex Stadium.
Group A has hosts Tanzania, Kenya, Somalia and Sudan. It will be the first time that Sudan and Somalia participate in this tournament.
The CECAFA Kagame Cup will be the second tournament to be staged by CECAFA in July and hosted by Rwanda.
