Mlandege FC target first Mapinduzi Cup title

Zanzibar Premier League side, Mlandege FC will be all out to try and win their first silverware this season when they face Singida Big Stars FC in the Mapinduzi Cup 2023 final.
Mohamed Bares, the Mlandege FC coach says although they are facing a strong team in the final, his players are well motivated to give a good account.
“We beat the 2022 champions Simba SC in the group stage and also beat another team from Main land Namungo at the semi finals. So we are capable of beating any team,” said Bares.
To reach the final Mlandege Fc ejected Namungo FC 5-4 on penalties after the two teams had tied 1-1, while Singida Big Stars FC humbled Azam FC 4-1.
The Mlandege FC coach made it clear that he has not pressure facing teams from the Tanzania Premier League because he also has experience working in the same League. Bares will look to some of his players like Mustapha Mussim Juma, Abduswamad Ali Mwadini, Laurean Omar Makame and Said Mussa Said.
While Azam FC have won the Mapinduzi Cup a record five times (2012, 2013, 2017, 2018, 2019), while Simba SC lifted the title in 2011, 2015 and 2022. Young Africans SC and Mtibwa Sugar have each won the title twice. The Zanzibar sides that have won the title once include; Jamhuri FC, Polisi SC, KMKM SC, Mafunzo FC, Malindi FC and Miembeni FC.
The Mapinduzi Cup 2023 attracted 12 teams including guest side Aigle Noir CS from Burundi. The Cup is played to celebrate the anniversary of the revolution of Zanzibar.
