Zanzibar Premier League champions KVZ have lost their opening match in the on-going CECAFA Kagame Cup in Kigali, Rwada.

Rwanda’s Cup winners Rayon Sport FC defeated KVZ FC 2-0 in the Group C match played at the Amahoro Stadium.

Coach Hababuu Ali Omar’s team managed to absorb the pressure from the home team as the first half ended goalless.

After 67 minutes the home side were awarded a penalty, and substitute Junior Herman Kameni made no mistake sending the KVZ FC goalkeeper Hamad Ubwa Hamad the wrong side to make it 1-0.

Later KVZ FC tried to create some scoring opportunities through Mohammed Mussa Haji and Mukrim Juma Madal, but to no avail.

Rayon Sport FC continued to push forward before they netted the second goal through Daniel Muhoza after 80 minutes.

KVZ FC will return to action against Sudan side Al Hilal SC on July 28^th, before taking on Tusker FC in the last group match.
