Zanzibar Queens humble Djibouti 4-0 in CECAFA U-17 Women’s Championship

Zanzibar Queens have humbled Djibouti 4-0 in their last Group B match at the on-going CECAFA U-17 Women’s Championship 2026.
Defender Luiz Federico netted an own goal after only two minutes to give Zanzibar the lead at the KMC Stadium on Thursday in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
The Queens continued to dominate play and attacked in numbers before Aidda Mnyachisa made it 2-0 after nine minutes.
The Djibouti team tried to play a highly defensive approach, but failed to contain the Zanzibar Queens. Aziza Hamadi and Mariam Hussein added two more goals to ensure Zanzibar picked their only win in the competition.
Hussein Ahmada Vuai, the General Secretary of the Zanzibar Football Federation (ZFF) who watched the match praised the team for the win. “We shall keep improving all our teams,” added the ZFF General Secretary.
Hosts Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda and South Sudan have advanced to the semi-finals that will be played on Saturday.
