CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup to return in 2025

The CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup has been planned to return in 2025.
Delegates made the decision during the CECAFA Ordinary General Assembly held on Wednesday at the Imperial Plaza Hotel in Juba, South Sudan.
Suleiman Mahmoud Jabir, the Zanzibar Football Federation (ZFF) and the General Secretary Hussein Ahmada attended the Assembly.
Last year the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup which was slated to take place in Zanzibar was cancelled. “We are happy that the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup will be played this year because as Zanzibar we look forward to enter our team in the tournament,” said Ahmada
CECAFA also agreed to have the inaugural CECAFA Beach Soccer Competition in Kenya, CECAFA Senior Women’s Challenge, Dar Port Kagame Cup 2025, and the CAF Women’s Champions League, CECAFA qualifiers.
All Member Association were however, asked to send their requests to CECAFA showing their willingness to host certain tournaments.
The CECAFA Ordinary General Assembly was officially opened by the Minister of Youth and Sports in South Sudan,
CECAFA hold successful Ordinary General Assembly in South Sudan, Dr. Joseph Geng Akech. He thanked the regional body for accepting to have the Assembly take place in South Sudan.
Wallace Karia, the CECAFA President told the Assembly that the Zone continues to steadily register success which has been witnessed by several teams qualifying for big tournaments including the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup where Tanzania and Kenya have qualified in the last two years.
