Burkina Faso have reclaimed top position in the on-going Mapinduzi Cup 2025 in Pemba, Zanzibar.

The West African team defeated Tanzania 2-0 in a match played at the Gombani Stadium on Thursday night.

Abdoul Karim Baguian gave Burkina Faso the lead after 30 minutes after picking a good pass from Clement Pitroipa. Before the interval Pitroopa got his name on the score sheet after dribbling past two defenders.

After the break the Tanzanian team tried to fight back but failed to find the goals. Burkina Faso now lead the table with 7 points, while the match between Zanzibar Heroes and Kenya on Friday will decide which teams makes it to the final.
