Zanzibar to face Ethiopia, South Sudan in CECAFA Senior Women’s Championship
The Zanzibar Queens have been drawn in Group B ahead of the regional CECAFA Senior Women’s Championship.
In the draw conducted on Wednesday, Zanzibar have been placed alongside Tanzania, South Sudan and Ethiopia.
Uganda will host the tournament whose dates will be communicated this weekend. The tournament had been slated to take place May 22nd to June 5th, but the regional body is making changes.
The draw conducted by Auka Gecheo, the CECAFA Executive Director and Amir Abdi Hassan Amir (Competitions Manager) via zoom also placed hosts Uganda in Group A alongside Burundi, Rwanda and Djibouti.
Gecheo made it clear that they expect to have a very competitive tournament which will also help the two teams Uganda and Burundi prepare better ahead of the TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations 2022 to take place in Morocco.
Group A: Uganda, Burundi, Rwanda, Djibouti
Group B: Tanzania, Zanzibar, South Sudan, Ethiopia
