Mafunzo Women SC suffered their first defeat at the on-going CAF Women’s Champions League CECAFA qualifiers on Sunday.

The Zanzibar representatives dominated play, but wasted numerous scoring chances as they lost 1-0 to Yei Joint Stars WFC from South Sudan in a Group A match played at the Kigali Pele Stadium.

Jackline Kulusanga and Nyanyama John all came close to scoring, but failed to make them count. Mary Anger Bol scored for the South Sudan side after 69 minutes.

Cynthia Shilwatso Musungu, the Mafunzo Women SC captain said they were unlucky not to take their chances infront of goal.

In the second Group A match home side Rayon Sports WFC defeated Denden FC (Eritrea) 3-0.

Mafunzo Women SC will return to action in their last Group A match against Denden FC (Eritrea) on August 25^th at the FERWAFA Technical Center ground.
