Tanzania Premier League side Azam FC have advanced to the semi-final stage at the on-going Muungano Cup 2026 in Zanzibar.

Azam FC defeated KVZ FC 2-0 in the second match of the competition played at the New Amaan Complex on Wednesday.

Youngster Jean-Jacques Ngita scored in each half to ensure Azam FC qualified for the semi-final stage.

“I am happy that I managed to score two goals today to help my team progress to the next stage,” said a happy Ngita.

The tournament which started with Young Africans SC stopping Mwembe Makumbi City FC 4-0 on Tuesday continues on Thursday with two matches on card.

Singida Black Stars FC will face Mlandege FC, while Simba SC take on Mafunzo FC on Thursday.

The tournament which will brings together teams from Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar is played to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Union.
