CECAFA U-20 CHALLENGE CUP: Musonye expects stiff competition

The Secretary General of the Council of East and Central African Football Associations (Cecafa), Nicholas Musonye has said he expects stiff competition during the Cecafa U-20 Challenge Cup.
Action in the regional tournament in Uganda kicks-off on September 21st with three matches on card.
Sudan will take on Djibouti in the opening Group A match before Uganda face Eritrea at the Pece War Memorial Stadium in Gulu, while Group C will have Burundi battle South Sudan at the Fufa Technical Centre, Njeru.
Speaking during a press conference in Gulu on Friday Musonye thanked the locals for the good hospitality and encouraged them to come and support the tournament.
“I thank the people of Gulu for every positive effort to host the Cecafa U-20 Challenge Cup. I also want to extend my appreciation to FUFA for the facilitation for the commitment and dedication,” added Musonye.
He made it clear that since teams have preparing for a longer time he expects a competitive tournament. “These youth tournaments are good for our region because these players are the future stars of tomorrow,” added Musonye.
The Zanzibar U-20 team who arrive in Uganda on Friday afternoon will start their campaign with a game against Kenya on Sunday.
Group A: Uganda, Sudan, Eritrea, Djibouti
Group B: Kenya, Ethiopia, Zanzibar, Tanzania
Group C: Burundi, South Sudan, Somalia
