Tanzania Premier League side Simba SC have appointed a new coach ahead of the Mapinduzi Cup 2026.

The South African Steve Barker was announced by the Club on Friday. The experienced coach was in-charge of Stellenbosch FC in the South African Betway Premier League before signing for Simba SC.

The signing of a new coach will drive more interest when Simba SC participate in the Mapinduzi Cup which runs December 28^th to January 13^th at the New Amaan Stadium and Gombani Stadium in Zanzibar.

Besides Simba SC, the other teams from the Tanzania Premier League that will take part include; Azam FC, Young Africans SC and CECAFA Kagame Cup reigning champions Singida Black Stars FC.

The Mapinduzi Cup is a tournament created to commemorate Zanzibar’s Revolution day which is marked annually on January 12th.
